Plaimbois-Vennes

Plaimbois -Vennes is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Plaimbois -Vennes is located at 760 m above sea level, 4 km south of Pierre Fontaine- les- Varans and about 40 km east of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the Jura, on a terrace on a sloping north slope above the deep valley of the Reverotte, south of the plateau by Pierre Fontaine.

The area of ​​10.80 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The northern border is always along the Reverotte that drains the area in a deep erosion valley east to Dessoubre. The steep, wooded slopes are traversed in different places of rock bands. They are divided by short gullies, including those of Vermondans. From the creek, the municipality's area extends southward over the terrace of Plaimbois to the adjacent Jurahöhenzug that separates the Reverotte Valley from Basin Vennes. This ridge forms an anticline of the Jura Mountains and is oriented according to the strike of the mountain range in the southwest-northeast direction. With 1007 m the highest peak of Plaimbois -Vennes is achieved above the village.

Neighboring communities of Plaimbois -Vennes are La Sommette and Pierre Fontaine- les- Varans in the north, Plaimbois du Miroir in the east, Guyans -Vennes and Vennes in the south and Loray in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Plaimbois -Vennes belonged to the rule Vennes. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Since 1998 Plaimbois -Vennes is a member of the 44- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Pierre Fontaine - Vercel.

On 1 January 2009 there was a change in the membership of the district municipality. So far, belonging to the district Besançon, all municipalities in the canton came to the district Pontarlier.

Attractions

The village church of Plaimbois -Vennes was inaugurated in 1778. From the medieval castle Château Vieux ruins remain. Among the natural attractions of the area include the gorge-like valley of the Reverotte ( Défilé the epais Rochers ) and the waterfall of Vermondans.

Population

With 83 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Plaimbois -Vennes is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 256 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Plaimbois -Vennes was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( dairy farming and animal husbandry, farming ) and forestry embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are almost no jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Pierre Fontaine- les- Varans by Loray.
