Le Montet

Le Montet is a commune with 509 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Allier in the Auvergne region. It belongs to the district Moulins, is the capital of the Canton of Le Montet and seat of the municipal association Bocage Sud.

Geography

Le Montet is at 476 m above sea level on the watershed between the river systems of Cher and Allier, about halfway between the towns of Moulins and Montlucon.

  • Church of Saint- Gervais -et-Saint - Protais, Romanesque ( end of 11th century, in the 14th century changed ), three naves with a small choir room, beautifully decorated capitals, worth seeing west portal, Church tower in the north-west from the 1st half of the 19th century, Monument historique, architect: Jean -Baptiste Lassus. The of the Bourbon Archambault / Archimbald III. († 1095 ) and granted church where he was also buried, was the center of one of Archambault II († 1078 ), founded the Benedictine priory.
