Lexington is a city in the U.S. state of Massachusetts with 30,355 inhabitants ( 2000 census ) and an area of 42.8 km ².

History

The first settlement on the site of the present city limits, was built in 1640.

In Lexington fell on 19 April 1775 in the Battle of Lexington and Concord, the first shot, which ushered in the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. He went as the phrase The shot that was heard around the world in history.

Economy

The software company Looking Glass Studios was founded in Lexington in 1991. The provider of IT security solutions, Imprivata, headquartered in Lexington.
