List of churches on Rügen

On the island of Rügen there are 46 church buildings, including 39 Protestant, 3 and 4 New Apostolic Catholic churches. The Rügen Catholic church, the northernmost of the Archdiocese of Berlin, has its headquarters in the St. Boniface Church in Bergen auf Rügen. The oldest churches on Rügen date from the 12th century. The recent church buildings were built in the 20th century to meet the increased demand by the emerging spa industry.

In many cases it is difficult to predict the exact time of construction, as the churches were often remodeled and expanded. Decisive is the construction phase, in which the building was given its present shape. Ersterwähnungen usually give only a terminus ante quem at which merely states when a building already exists must, but do not know how long at this point already. Sometimes it is also unclear whether refers to a mention on the current building or to a predecessor.
