Geography

Geographical Location

Lohnberg lies in the Lahn valley between Wetzlar and the county town of Limburg an der Lahn.

Neighboring communities

Lohnberg bordered to the north by the municipality of grasping stone, on the east by the cities of Leun and Braunfels (all three in the Lahn- Dill-Kreis ) in the south to the town of Weilburg, and to the west by the municipalities Merenberg and Menger churches (all three in Limburg -Weilburg ).

Structure

The municipality consists of the villages Lohnberg Lohnberg ( council offices ), low Hausen, Oberhausen and seltzer.

History

These four locations were to the early 14th century first mentioned end of the 13th documented. In the case of the soda because of the name similarity with seltzer (Westerwald ) and seltzer (Taunus ) is not entirely clear. A document from the year 1317 can be unequivocally seltzer assign an der Lahn, possibly the place but was mentioned earlier. 1324 Nassau Lane castle was first mentioned. It must have been built shortly before. At that time was the capital of today's Lohnberg still Heimau and received city rights in 1321 under this name, however, resulted because of the proximity to Weilburg and the pledge to the local Nassauer line 1344 a Kümmerdasein. The Laneburg had later than 1342 a church and a pastor from 1355. During the Reformation, the place was Protestant. At the end of the 16th century, the Laneburg was developed into a Renaissance castle and was briefly nassau dillenburgische residence. 1900 burned down the castle.

The district of Oberhausen was the first time in 1310 and Niedernhausen first mentioned in documents in 1296.

Incorporations

In the course of municipal reform in Hesse, the formerly independent communities of former Oberlahnstein Lohnberg circle, Lower and Oberhausen joined on 31 December 1970 together with the new total community Lohnberg. Seltzer was added on July 1, 1974.

Structures

In Lohnberg is the Laneburg. There is also the Protestant castle church from 1738 and the Catholic church of the parish of St. Hedwig.

Economy and infrastructure

In the district there are two soda bottling companies who market the mineral water pumped there, including the nationally -known and marketed soda mineral water.

Traffic

Through the village the main road 49, Limburg- Wetzlar runs. With a railway station on the Lahn Valley Railway Lohnberg is connected to the rail network.

Education

In Lohnberg there is a primary school called primary school on the Falk flight. Next leading schools are available in the nearby town of Weilburg.
