London Borough of Newham

The London Borough of Newham [ nju ː əm ] is a city district of London. It is located in the northeast of the city. With the establishment of the administrative region of Greater London in 1965, he emerged from the County Borough of East Ham and the County Borough of West Ham, two urban districts in the county of Essex. There were parts of the Metropolitan Borough of Woolwich north of the Thames and the Municipal Borough of Barking west of the River Roding.

The population continued in 2008, composed of 39.0 % White, 33.9 % Asian, 19.7% black and 1.4 % Chinese. Newham is beside Brent one of two districts where ethnic minorities are the majority.

The southern part of Newham form the Docklands, the former port area, which is the largest urban area of London. There is also the London City Airport.
