Long Qingquan (Chinese:龙 清泉, Lóng Qingquan; born December 3, 1990 in Longshan, Hunan ) is a Chinese weightlifter.

Sporting career

Long was 2008 Chinese national champion. In August 2008, he took in Beijing for the first time participate in the Olympics. There the hitherto completely unknown to international athletes in the class to 56 kg won the gold medal. With its capacity of 292 kg in the snatch and jerk he set a new junior world record.

The Chinese National Championships 2009 Long scored 302 kg in the 10 kg more than a year ago in Beijing. After 133 kg in the snatch and jerk he managed 169 kg, 1 kg more than the official world record by Halil Mutlu. Long is currently preparing (as of November 2009) to the 2012 Olympic Games in London and plans to the world record officially to improve, because according to the World Association records may be lifted only at world, continental championships or Olympic Games. At the World Championships in Goyang, he scored 292 kg in the total and thus won gold ahead of compatriot Wu Jingbiao and the Cubans Sergio Alvarez Boulet. After 130 kg in the snatch, he was able to bring even more valid 162 kg in bumping. In his last attempt, he then but was thwarted of his planned world record weight of 169 kg.
