Lore Lindu National Park

Lore Lindu National Park is a 250,000 -hectare National Park in Sulawesi Tengah, Indonesia, and one of UNESCO's biosphere reserves. The park is accessible from July to September for the public.

The secluded park has rich flora and fauna, including hornbills, tarsiers, and many species of butterflies. Here live indigenous tribes. In " Gintu " and " Doda " are megaliths. The highest mountain in the park is the Gunung Tokasa with 2,508 m. The park is also the 3150 acre lake Danau Lindu.

History of the park

The Heartland Kalamanta was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1973 and incorporated in 1977 as a Biosphere Reserve in the program "Man and Biosphere" by UNESCO. 1978 was also the area around Lake Lindu to the Wildlife Reserve, and in 1981 was born from the union of the two protected areas, the reserve Lore Lindu. Next year, the reserve of the Indonesian government was given the status of a national park. The official opening took place in 1993.

The park and its buffer zone were examined ( in Indonesia Stability of the Rainforest Margin) from the Research STORMA, which was operated from 2000 to 2009 in Indonesian- German cooperation. On the Indonesian side, the Institute Pertanian Bogor were ( Bogor, Java) and the Universitas Tadulako ( Palu, Sulawesi ); On the German side the Georg -August- University of Göttingen and the University of Kassel.
