Lost in the Echo

Lost in the Echo ( dt Lost In The Echo) is a song by American rock band Linkin Park. It is the first song on the album Living Things and at the same time the second single from the album. In the UK release on October 19, 2012 took place.

Background and composition

Lost in the Echo was written by Linkin Park itself and produced by Mike Shinoda and Rick Rubin. It was recorded in March 2012. Later that month, Rolling Stone magazine the title mentioned for the first time. In the making of the album was announced that the band originally used the working title for the song Holding Company.

Stylistically takes Lost in the echo back the rap and rock elements of the first two studio albums, Hybrid Theory and Meteora, on, the music clearly Electronic fails.

Music Video

The official lyric video was released shortly after the release of the album. It is thus the third after Burn It Down and Lies Greed Misery.

The regular music video premiered on August 29, 2012 its premiere after the publication announced three days earlier and a countdown was started on the website the day before. The film was directed by Jason Zada. The video is interactive and can only be obtained on the official website. By synchronizing with a Facebook account personal photos be installed from there in the video. Mike Shinoda stated the album was very much as you and I do with the issues and therefore adapted the idea for the video to create something that is very personal and also linked with memories. It felt very fitting for the song.

The video takes place in a post-apocalyptic time in which no photographs exist. A man enters a destroyed building with a briefcase, where he opens it and pulls out photographs, which he then distributed to numerous people. In these photographs, personal photographs from the Facebook account are displayed. The people who look at these photographs react, it exceptionally emotionally and eventually crumble to dust.

Reception

Lost in the echo was received generally positively received by music critics. Chad Childers by Loudwire described Lost in the Echo as a darker and more powerful than the previous single Burn It Down. He compared it with previous works of the band. Praises Jason Lipsutz by Billboard, bubbling synthesizer quickly turned into crashing guitars.

Charts

Remix

The KillSonik remix appeared on several recordings. It was first published on 19 October 2012 as the B-side on the single CD of Lost in the echo. This appeared only in the UK. On 1 February 2013, the remix was also released on the Castle of Glass Single CD. March 22, 2013, is also available on the Australian Tour Edition of Living Things. However, the most prominent appearance was the KillSonik Remix only on the remix album released on October 25, 2013 Recharged.
