Loulans - Verchamp is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Loulans - Verchamp situated at an altitude of 254 m above sea level, 5 km south-west of Montbozon and about 20 km south of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village extends north Ognon, near the confluence of Quenoche and Linotte, on the eastern edge of the woods to the Grands Bois.

The area of ​​8.16 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside between the river valleys of Ognon and Saône. The central part of the area is traversed in a north-south direction from the Linotte that provides drainage for Ognon. Next to Loulans takes them from the west Quenoche on. The approximately 200 to 500 m wide lowlands of these rivers are flanked on both sides of the plateau, at an average of 280 m. History

In the Middle Ages Loulans belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The area was in the 12th century in the possession of Thibaud de Neufchatel. Together with the Franche -Comté Loulans came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. The rule Loulans in 1728 raised to the Marquisat. In the 16th century a blast furnace was established, which formed the basis for the site of a foundry and a forge plant. The blast furnace ceased operation in the 19th century. With the opening of the railway line from Besançon Lure Loulans was tied late 19th century to the French railway network. Today the line is shut down, however.

In 1962 Loulans was officially renamed Loulans -les -Forges. Eight years later, there was a change in area than the previously independent Verchamp was incorporated into Loulans -les -Forges. The new church changed its name in 1983 in Loulans - Verchamp. Since 2000 Loulans - Verchamp is a member of the comprehensive 21 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Montbozon.

Loulans - Verchamp was early on a location of the iron industry. The water power of the Linotte was used for the operation of mills.
