Luca Brecel

Luca Brecel ( born March 8, 1995 Dilsen- Stokkem ) is a Belgian snooker player.

Career

Brecel 2009 was recently at the age of 14 years U-19 snooker champions of all time. He received an invitation for the final tournament of the World Series 2008/ 09 and there defeated in the first round completely surprising the more time Vice World Champion Jimmy White 4-3. In the second round he beat Ken Doherty with the world champion of 1997 ( 5:3 ), in the next round, he retired then with 4:5 narrowly against another former world champion ( Graeme Dott ) from. Since Luca Brecel is one of the most promising young players in the world.

In May 2010, he was by a 7-4 final victory against professional players Björn Haneveer Belgian champion of the master class. He also won the EBSA European Championship Snooker in the same year.

Brecel was invited in 2010 ( first major event of this Snooker variant) and the Power Snooker event. He was defeated in his first match Ronnie O'Sullivan, the eventual winner of the event.

In the season 2010/11 Brecel was still too young to play on the main tour. He received a wildcard for the German Masters 2011, but lost in the first game Jack Lisowski with 2:5. For the season 2011/12 he then received a wildcard for the professional tour. In the first two tournaments of the Players Tour Championship 2011/12 he scored notable successes against the top 32 player Jamie Cope and Anthony Hamilton.

At the end of the season he managed by victories over Ian McCulloch, Barry Pinches, Michael Holt and Mark King first Belgian to qualify for the Snooker World Championship. He broke the held by Stephen Hendry in 1986 record as the youngest participant in the finals of a World Cup. In his first match he defeated Stephen Maguire at 5:10. It was then announced that Brecel is provided a wildcard available for the next year.

In the UK Championship in 2012, he qualified by four wins - including a stunning 6-1 victory over former world champion Peter Ebdon - for his second full-fledged world ranking tournament. There, on a tight 6-5 opening win over Ricky Walden, he managed to jump into the second round where he defeated Mark King and also stood first in the quarterfinals of a Main Tour tournament. There he defeated Shaun Murphy narrowly with 5:6.
