Background
After disagreements between Mark Knopfler and his brother David about his role in the band Dire Straits, David had left. The band remained their distinctive sound of the first two albums faithful; however they continued to evolve. Above all, they turned first to elaborate, the 80 -mainstream -oriented instrumentation. The album, whose title of a text line of the song comes Skateway ( "she's making movies on location" ), begins with Tunnel of Love, an epic number with over eight minutes in length. The intro of the song is the " Carousel Waltz " from the musical Carousel by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II The other well-known song, Romeo and Juliet, was repeatedly gecovert, eg by The Killers.
1996 ( in the U.S. in 2000), Making Movies was released along with the other albums the band as a newly remastered version.
