Maksim Potapov (ice hockey)
Maxim Potapov Gennadjewitsch (Russian Максим Геннадьевич Потапов; born May 25, 1980 in Voronezh, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who stands since 2003 Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the Kontinental Hockey League contract.
Career
Maxim Potapov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of the HK Voronezh. From there he moved to the Faucons de Sherbrooke ( 1998 Castors de Sherbrooke ) for which he was active in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL from 1997 to 2000, before the 1999/2000 season with his hometown club HK Voronezh in the Wysschaja League the second Russian league ended. The season 2000/ 01 he spent mostly at the Johnstown Chiefs in the ECHL. In addition, he came to one mesh inserts for the Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the Russian Super League.
In the 2001 /02 season, Potapov could win a regular place in the Super League participants Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. For this, he scored in his first full year in the Russia's highest league in 49 games and seven goals were eight assists. For the following season, he was taken from the capital club Spartak Moscow HK under contract, but this left after only eleven games without a point again, to join its league rivals Molot Perm - Prikamye. There he took a leading role and scored in 32 games 14 scorer points, including five goals. When his team's descent into Wysschaja league at the end of the season, he returned to his former club Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.
With Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod Potapov had in the 2003/04 season also accept relegation to the second division, but the club survived and reached torpedo at the third attempt in the season 2006/ 07 the resurgence in the Super League. Since the 2008/ 09 season for the Russian torpedo is in the Kontinental Hockey League newly founded on the ice.
