2001–02 Russian Superleague season
The 2001/02 season was the sixth season of the Super League. The league title secured for the second time Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, during the HK CSKA Moscow and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod descended into the Wysschaja league.

Main Round
Mode
The 18 teams in the Super League first played in a common main round against each other, each team played 51 games season. The top eight teams qualified for the play- offs then, where the Master was played while the two last placed descended to the second division. For a win within regular time each team received three points with a win in overtime two points with a tie after overtime, there was also a point like a defeat after overtime. For one defeat after regulation time gave no points.
