Manawatu Rugby Union

The Manawatu Rugby Union ( MRU ) is the national rugby union Provincial Association of the Manawatu District on the North Island of New Zealand. The selection team of the Association in the national championship ITM Cup means Turbos and bears their home games at the Arena Manawatu in Palmerston North from.

Manawatu has a time the New Zealand Cup, the former National Provincial Championship, won (1980). In addition, the team has won two (1976, 1981). From 1976 to 1978 she was in possession of the Ranfurly Shield. The MRU merged in 1997 with the Hawke 's Bay Rugby Union. The new association Central Vikings Rugby Union was only a year and broke up again.

Players from Manawatu are eligible to play in the international Super Rugby League and are summoned by the Hurricanes.
