Marcelinho Huertas

Marcelo " Marcelinho " Tieppo Huertas ( born May 25, 1983 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian professional basketball player. The 1,90 m tall point guard is active since 2011 for FC Barcelona in the Spanish ACB League and member of the Brazilian national team. He has, since 2003, the Italian citizenship.

Club career

Huertas began his career at Club Athletico Paulistano, before joining EC Pinheiros 2002. In the following season he became, despite his young age to guide players on the team, after which he was elected meistverbesserten player of the season. In summer 2003, Huertas completed for CB Breogán some test games in the Spanish Liga de Verano ( modeled after the NBA Summer League ), but returned to Paulistano. Since he was able to convince here again, finally took him Joventut de Badalona 2004 under contract. 2006 won Huertas with this club the FIBA EuroCup. A year later, took the League rival CB Bilbao Berri under contract. After that season, he was elected to the " Quinteto Ideal " of the ACB league. This award followed, however, with the change to Fortitude Bologna probably the most difficult year of his professional career, because with the torn mismanagement club Huertas dismounted from Serie A. He then returned to Spain and signed with Saski Baskonia, where he was 2010 Spanish masters along with his team-mate Tiago Splitter. National team career

With the Brazilian national team Huertas won the U.S. championship in 2005 and 2009 and the basketball competition at the Pan American Games in 2007. Moreover, he participated in the World Championships in 2006 and 2010 and the 2012 Olympic Games in part.
