Maria Amalia of Saxony
Maria Amalia Christina Franziska Xaveria Flora Walburga von Sachsen (Spanish: María Amalia de Sajonia ) (* November 24, 1724 in Dresden, † September 27, 1760 in Madrid) was a royal princess of Poland and Elector of Saxony, Princess, and Queen by marriage only of Naples and Sicily, then Queen of Spain.
Life
Maria Amalia was the eldest daughter of Elector Friedrich August II of Saxony, King of Poland and Maria Josepha of Austria.
It was at the age of 13 years with King Charles IV of Naples and Sicily, later King Charles III. married of Spain, son of King Philip V. de Borbon and his wife Elisabeth Farnese. The marriage took place on 19 June 1738 in Pillnitz near Dresden by marrying by proxy instead.
The young queen was already with 15 years of their first child, which should still twelve more to come. In 1759 her husband succeeded to the throne of Spain and Maria Amalia became a Spanish queen. However, she died a year later at age 35 in Buen Retiro in Madrid from tuberculosis.
