Markus Pommer

Markus Pommer (born 27 January 1991 in Heilbronn ) is a German racing driver.

Career

Pommer began his motorsport career in 1999 in karting, where he was active until 2006. Among other things, he won the 2004 Southern Germany ICA Junior Kartcup. In 2007 he moved to Formula racing and stood in for Mücke Motorsport in the German Formula BMW. Behind his teammate Philipp Eng and Kevin Mirocha he ended his first season in tenth place in the championship. After the German Formula BMW had been adjusted, changed Pommer in 2008 to the newly founded ADAC Formula Masters for Team Abt Sportsline. He won a race and was a total of five times on the podium. He finished the season ahead of teammate Daniel Abt in fifth place in the championship.

2009 saw Pommer in the German Formula 3 Cup and went for Zettl Motorsport at the start. He won no races and two second places were his best results. He finished the season behind Laurens Vanthoor and Stef Dusseldorp in third place in the championship and was the best driver with a Mercedes engine. In 2010, he remained in the German Formula 3 and switched to Brandl Motorsport. With a second place as best result him a victory was again denied. As in the previous year was Pommer, who finished in eighth place overall, the best Mercedes driver. 2011 Pommer denied his third season in the German Formula 3 Cup. First, he drove a Volkswagen engine for Moto Park Academy. After he had achieved in the first three race weekends only one point, he moved to the fourth race weekend to Jo Zeller Racing that use Mercedes engines. Already in his second race for the new team, he scored second in the first podium placement in the season. With a total of four podium finishes he finished the season in seventh place in the drivers' standings. He was the best German pilot.

2012 moved Pommer in the FIA Formula 2 Championship. With three victories, only the master Luciano Bacheta had won more races than Pommer. In the overall standings, he reached the fourth place.
