Matej Kazár

Matej Kazár ( born May 10, 1983 in Košice ) is a Slovak biathlete.

Matej Kazár lives in Predajna and trained in Brezno. The student is sporting a soldier. His club is VSC Dukla Banska Bystrica, where he was coached by Pavel Kobela. Since 2000 Kazár competed in international junior race. Between 2000 and 2004 he competed in five World Junior Championships. Best results were a fifth place in the individual of Khanty-Mansiysk (2001), in the pursuit of Ridnaun (2002) and in the pursuit of Kościelisko ( 2003). Just as often, he took up at Junior European Championships. Several times he finished top- ten finishes. In 2000 he won in Zakopane relay silver and gold in 2004 in Minsk in singles. At the Junior World Championships in the summer biathlon he won in 2003 in Forni Avoltri Season silver.

2002 debuted Kazár in Lahti in a relay race ( 16 ) in the Biathlon World Cup. Then he started to 2004 only in Junior European Cup. Since 2005, he entered again and again changing to the World and European. In the European Cup Kazár reached in the 2007/ 08 season several times good rankings, including two third places. His first points in the World Cup was won by the Slovak in 2008 as 23 in the pursuit of Ruhpolding. In Biathlon World Championships Kazár launched first time in 2005 in Hochfilzen. He was 76th in the sprint and 14th in the relay. 2006 Pokljuka he finished with the mixed relay the 13th Place. At the 2006 Olympics in Turin, he reached in the sprint and 57th in the pursuit of rank 52 at the World Cup in summer biathlon in Ufa, he missed the season in fourth place with barely a medal. First title he won at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2010 in Osrblie, where he won the title in the sprint and pursuit as well as with Janka Gereková, Natália Prekopova and Miroslav Matiaško bronze medal in the mixed relay. These successes he was able to confirm at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2010 in Duszniki Zdrój. In the sprint, he won the silver medal behind Dušan Šimočko, won the subsequent pursuit race and was Gereková, Ľubomíra Kalinová and Šimočko the bronze medal in the mixed competition. The 2010/11 season brought the first improvement of the personal best at a sprint in Hochfilzen on the 21th Place. In the Biathlon World Championships 2011 in Khanty-Mansiysk Kazár was 92 and 78 of the Single Page the sprint. In the rest of the season, he participated in the Summer Biathlon World Championships in 2011 in part in Nové Město na Moravě without to tie in 24th and 14th in the sprint pursuit of his earlier successes. In the 2011/12 season in the Czech Kontiolahti was first run as a sprint 17th among the top 20 in the World Cup.
