Mauensee, Lucerne

Mauensee is a municipality in the constituency Sursee the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland.

Geography

The village lies to the west of Sursee on the eastern edge of the Wauwilermoos. To the municipality, the hamlet Kaltenbach part (521 m above sea level. M. ), which is north of Mauensee village between St Erhard and Wauwil, and the hamlet Bognau (517 m above sea level. M. ) in the east, which has grown together with Sursee. Within the municipality and the Mauensee is with the water castle.

The municipality covers an area with lakes of 7.21 km ², of which 17.2% bestockte surface (ie, woods and forests ), 68.5 % is used for agriculture and used 6.8% as a settlement area.

Mauensee bordered to the northwest by Dagmersellen, on the north by Knutwil, on the northeast by Sursee, on the southeast by Oberkirch, to the south by large cheeks, on the southwest by Ettiswil and to the west by Wauwil.

Population

By 1860, the population increases slightly; in the following decade it drops sharply (1860-1870: -14.2 %). After a slight growth spurt until 1880, two decades of stagnation followed. After an up and down the church in 1930 counts the same number of residents as to the turn of the century. After a small ridge of high pressure to 1941 an exodus to the historic low point occurs in 1980. Through the beautiful location close to the regional center and the nearby motorway, the population is growing continuously since then and strongly. It has doubled in a quarter of a century (1980-2004: 97.5 %).

Languages

The population used as everyday language, a high- Alemannic dialect. At the last census in 2000 gave 96.14 % German and the Albanian and Serbo-Croatian % 1:04 as primary language.

Religions - faiths

Previously, all the inhabitants were members of the Roman Catholic Church. Today ( as of 2000) provides for the religious situation like this: There are 83.09 % Roman Catholic, 9.92 % and 0.42% to Reformed Orthodox Christians. In addition, one finds 4:59 % 0:52 % and non-religious Muslims.

Origin - Nationality

Of the 1,132 residents in late 2006 were 1,067 Swiss and 65 ( = 5.7%) foreigners. At the last census, 92.38 % were (including dual citizens 94.68 % ) Swiss nationals. The largest immigrant groups come from Serbia, Montenegro ( Albanians and Slavs ), Germany and Italy.

Traffic

Mauensee is connected by bus Sursee Willisau to the public transport network. There are railway lines at both endpoints. Willisau is on the line Luzern- Langenthal and Sursee on the railway Olten- Lucerne. By Mauensee the important road leads from Sursee to Willisau. The nearest motorway junction Sursee on the A2 is 5 km away.

History

Moginse is listed in the directory of the oldest monastery Engelberg from the years 1184/1190. The lake was partly the Barons of Green Mountain and partly to the Barons of Aarburg. The troops destroyed the city of Lucerne in 1388, the castle on the island in Mauensee. The area was in 1407 at Lucerne. 1455 Lucerne bought then the aarburgischen and zofingischen part of Maue lake and so took his claims to power even more claims. 1605 left the family Pfyffer built the present castle. Until 1798 the town was part of the bailiwick Knutwil. Then it belonged to the district Sursee and since 1803 to the Official Sursee. Mauensee was until 1818 by separating Knutwil an independent municipality. A merger with neighboring communities is not currently planned, but it belongs to Regional Sursee 2000 , in which the communities around Sursee promote closer cooperation among the member communities.
