Městec Králové

Městec Králové ( German Königstädtel, also Königstadtl ), is a city in the region Středočeský kraj (Czech Republic). The city is situated in a plain surrounded by forests with natural protected, more than one hundred year old trees. The area is largely agricultural.

History

According to tradition Městec Králové was the birthplace of Prince Ottokar I. Under the reign of the Přemyslids Břetislavova II was located in the area already a royal summer palace, surrounded by deep forests, where there was plenty of wild game. Among the Přemyslids the place was called King Field. The fortified town was built in the 13th century on the trade route from Hradec Králové to Prague. By Charles IV Königsstädtel was given city rights, and he gave it as a fief to his wife Anna von Schweidnitz. His son Wenceslas IV is mentioned in the chronicles of the city as their patron.

1373 Anna handed her right to Peter von Wartenberg and food, then came the rain change of city owners. During the Hussite Wars, the city was burned and completely impoverished. In the 16th century Königsstädtel January Trček of Lipa belonged to Lipnice.

1544 there was an uprising of the people against their masters. This was put down and the inhabitants severely punished by King Vladislav II. Under the reign of Rudolf II Königsstädtel was sold under the royal chamberlain Burian Trček of Lipa for 3,000 dollars. 1610 there was a great fire, the consequences remained bearable through the assistance of surrounding villages.

During the Thirty Years' War the city was destroyed again in 1680 was followed by a new fire, the well destroyed the city, just like the fire on September 5, 1746 when the town was burnt in half. 1775 took the residents participate in the peasant uprising, which was brutally beaten again and a year later, the city again suffered under a conflagration.
