Metsaküla is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Kõrgessaare ( Kõrgessaare vald ). It is the second largest Estonian island of Hiiumaa ( German Dagö ).

Description and History

Metsaküla has ( in German " forest village" ) three inhabitants ( 31 December 2011).

The village is surrounded by mixed forest through the town these two streams Riima oja oja and Kurisu.

Little is known about the origin of the settlement. End of the 18th century it is mentioned as a village Metza documented. At that time it belonged to the estate of Lauka and existed from six villages.

In Metsaküla an ax from the Neolithic period has been found. The chance find is dated to the period 3000-1500 BC.
