Mike Weaver (ice hockey)

Mike Weaver ( born 2 May 1978 in Bramalea, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since March 2014 when the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League contract.

Playing career

The 1.79 m tall defender played for the team from Michigan State University in league play the National Collegiate Athletic Association before he was engaged as ungedrafteter free agent by the Atlanta Thrashers on June 15, 2000.

First, the right-handed shooter played for the Orlando Solar Bears in the IHL, as well as for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL, both farm teams of the Thrashers in tiefklassigeren leagues, his first NHL insert for Atlanta, he played during the 2001/ 02 season. Also in the following years commuted Weaver between Atlanta and Chicago, until he finally moved to the Los Angeles Kings in 2004. Due to the lockout he played during his first season at their farm team, the Manchester Monarchs in the AHL, his first NHL games for Los Angeles, he graduated in the following season.

For the season 2007/ 08 Weaver moved to the Vancouver Canucks, which he left after just one season back in the direction of St. Louis Blues. There he received after two seasons a new contract and joined the 2010/11 season to the Florida Panthers. Before the Trade Deadline, he was issued on March 4, 2014 in exchange for a fifth- round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2015 to the Montreal Canadiens.
