Mišo Brečko

Miso Brečko [ miʃo brɛtʃko ] ( born May 1, 1984 in Trbovlje, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Slovenian football player.

Career

In the club

The skilled midfielder who often comes as a right-back used, joined the 2004/05 season of NK Šmartno for Hamburger SV. There he completed seven league games. Shortly after the start of the season 2005/ 06 he moved on loan until 31 July 2006 to Hansa Rostock in the 2nd Bundesliga. In Hamburg he had received no match practice due to the strong competition in the midfield. In summer 2006, he returned after a year in Rostock back to Hamburg.

For the following season, 2006/ 07 Brečko was again loaned to the second division, this time to FC Erzgebirge Aue. For the season 2007/ 08 the Slovenian went back to Hamburger SV. Since the 2008/ 09 season Brečko plays for 1.FC Cologne. After the descent of Cologne from the Bundesliga in 2012 and the departure of many experienced players, he was appointed by Holger Stanislawski captain of the newly formed team. Brečko came in February 2012 in the headlines because he in the blood with his car drove on the tracks of the Cologne Stadtbahn with 1.7 milliliters of alcohol.

National

Miso Brečko debuted on 17 November 2004 for the national team of Slovenia, when he came off the bench in the 0-0 draw against Slovakia in Trnava twelve minutes before the end. Between February 9, 2005 and August 22, 2007, he completed only five games. Since then, Mišo Brečko was able to secure a regular place in the national team. In the remaining matches in the qualifying for Euro 2008 Brečko was used. Even in qualifying for the World Cup finals in 2010 Brečko was used in a total of nine games, also in the two relegation games against Russia. In the World Cup Brečko belonged to the Slovenian squad and played in all three group games.
