Mo Mowlam

Marjorie " Mo " Mowlam [ mɑ ː dʒəɹɪ məʊ məʊləm ] ( born September 18, 1949 in Watford, † 19 August 2005 in Canterbury ) was a British politician of the Labour Party and British Northern Ireland Secretary.

Life

From 1987 to 2001, she had the seat of Parliament for Redcar (North Yorkshire ) holds. From 1997 to 1999, Mowlam Northern Ireland Minister in the first cabinet of Tony Blair and negotiator in the talks that led to the Good Friday Agreement (1998). It was replaced in this role by Peter Mandelson 1999 and entered in the 2001 elections no longer for a parliamentary seat. Since the late 1990s, Mowlam was suffering from a brain tumor.

In August 2005, she was seriously ill admitted to London's King's College Hospital, and shortly thereafter transferred to a hospital in Kent to be closer to her family. According to the doctors she refused artificial life support if there is no prospect of recovery existed. She died on 19 August 2005.
