Nick Brown

Nicholas Hugh "Nick" Brown ( born June 13, 1950 in Hawkhurst, Kent ) is a British Labour Party politician.

Life

Brown was born in 1950 in Hawkhurst, Kent. After leaving school, he studied at the University of Manchester. After his studies he worked in the advertising department of the U.S. company Procter & Gamble. In 1978 he continued his professional career to the GMB union.

As the British politician Mike Thomas, who sat for the constituency of Newcastle upon Tyne East in the House as an MP in 1978 joined the SDP, Brown was elected As a new member of the Labour Party for the seat of Newcastle upon Tyne East constituency. At the general election in 1983, he defended his seat. In the following parliamentary elections, he was re-elected each.

From 27 July 1998 to June 11, 2001 Brown was the British Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Minister and then from June 2001 to July 2003 Minister of Labour. In his ministerial position as Agriculture Minister Jack Cunningham, he followed in 1998 and was replaced in 2001 by the British politician Margaret Beckett. Since 2008, Brown is a British Secretary of the Treasury.

Brown lives openly homosexual.
