Shaun Woodward

Shaun Anthony Woodward ( born October 26, 1958 in Bristol, United Kingdom) is a British politician ( Labour Party ).

Biography

Shaun Woodward was initially a member of the Conservative Party. In 1999, he joined the Labour Party after it had occurred, contrary to the official party line for the abolition of Clause 28 and had therefore lost his offices in the fraction. From 1 May 1997 to 7 June 2001, he was Member of Parliament for Witney. Since then, he sits as MP for St Helens South, now St Helens South and Whiston, Merseyside in the House of Commons.

In 2005, Woodward was appointed in Northern Ireland Ministry for Parliamentary State Secretary. From June 28, 2007 until the dismissal of the government of Gordon Brown Woodward held the office of the Minister of Northern Ireland. Since then, he is Shadow Minister for this portfolio.

Woodward is married since 1987 with Camilla Sainbury, a member of Sainbury family, which still belongs to a stake in the supermarket chain J Sainsbury. The couple has four children.
