Mokra, Opole Voivodeship

Mokrau (Polish: Mokra ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Mokrau located in the municipality Zülz ( Biała) in Prudnicki powiat (district Neustadt OS) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical Location

Mokrau is located six kilometers northeast of the municipal center Zülz, 16 kilometers northeast of the county town of Prudnik ( Neustadt OS ) and 30 kilometers south of the Opole voivodship ( Opole ).

History

The town was first mentioned in 1384 as " Mockra ". 1865 had the place at that time written Mockrau 14 gardeners and 12 smallholdings.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 241 voters voted to remain in Germany and 33 for Poland. Mokrau remained with the German Reich. On 15 June 1936, the place in Nassau ( Upper Silesia ) has been renamed. By 1945, the place was in the district of Neustadt OS

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Mokra and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship and since 1999 he is part of the powiat Prudnicki. On 6 March 2006 the German Mokrau was in the community Zülz, plays, introduced as a second official language. On 24 November 2008, the City also received the official German place names Mokrau.
