Montredon-des-Corbières

Mont Redon -des- Corbières is a commune with 1377 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the Aude department in the Languedoc- Roussillon region.

Geography

Mont Redon -des- Corbières is located six kilometers north-west of Narbonne. It belongs to the community association Le Grand Narbonne.

Neighboring municipalities are Narbonne in the north, east and south, the west and Bizanet Névian in the northwest.

History

In Mont Redon, situated on the hillside Labade existed Gallo- Roman villas. Such finds from this period were made at various locations in the municipal area. The cult of St. Martin, which is committed to the village festival, a testament to the development of a Roman villa towards the village since the 5th century. The first lord of Mont Redon in 1099 accompanied the Count of Toulouse crusade. His emblem is the coat of arms today. 1194 allowed the Viscount of Narbonne to build the Lords of Mont Redon, a castle. In 1976, the winemakers of the community were affected by a crisis.
