Müglitztal

Müglitztal is a municipality in the district of Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains, lies geographically in the Erzgebirge. It belongs to the administrative community Dohna- Müglitztal. Administrative headquarters are Weesenstein. The center of the state capital Dresden is located 22 kilometers north-west of Müglitztal.

Geography

The community Müglitztal, which lies at the Müglitz, is up to the district of the same name Maxen deep valley in the hilly foothills of the Ore Mountains. The community part Maxen lies on a plateau west of the valley outside of Mühlbach.

The highest point of the municipality is located 396 m above sea level. NN at the Drei Linden outside of Mühlbach. The lowest point is located in the Müglitztal at an altitude of 153 m above sea level. NN.

Community structure

The parish includes the hamlets of Burkhardswalde, Crotta, Falk Hain ( with Ploschwitz ) Maxen, Mühlbach ( with Haeselich ) Schmorsdorf and Weesenstein.

History

In GDR times, children recovered in a holiday camp, which was established in the Hartmann mill.

In the course of municipal reform communities Burkhardswalde, Maxen, Mühlbach and Weesenstein joined on 1 March 1994 under the new community Müglitztal.

The municipal area, particularly Weesenstein was repeated hard hit by flood of Müglitz in the past affected. Severe damage occurred particularly in 1927 and 2002. The railway line was interrupted for a long time, destroyed homes and bridges and ravaged the park of Schloss Weesenstein.

Traffic

In the Valley, the state highway runs 178 and the Müglitztal train ( Heidenau - Altenberg ).
