Nick Holden
Nick Holden ( born May 15, 1987 in St. Albert, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player on the position of the defender standing since July 2013 when the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League contract.
Career
Nick Holden started his junior career in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, where he was active for the Camrose Kodiaks and the Sherwood Park Crusaders. For the season 2006/ 07 he then moved to the Chilliwack Bruins in the Western Hockey League, where he was appointed captain of the team a year later. In the 2007 /08 season he scored 22 goals in 70 games overall and were 38 templates, with which he led the Bruins defender statistics. He was also the top scorer among the defenders of the WHL.
However, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft by any team and signed as a free agent in March 2008 as an entry-level contract for three years with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Then he was initially added to the roster of Syracuse Crunch, the farm team of the Blue Jackets and played in the 2007/ 08 season still a league game in the American Hockey League. The following season, he moved permanently to Syracuse, where he spent two seasons in which he scored 45 points scorer and he had a plus / minus score of -20.
For the 2010/11 season the Blue Jackets changed their AHL partner, so Holden to the Springfield Falcons, the new farm team, changed. Shortly after the start of the season the defender was first appointed to the cadre of the NHL teams and made his debut for Columbus on October 20, 2010. After five games in which Holden was point and with impunity, he was at the end of the month, however, again sent to Springfield in the AHL and completed the remaining 67 games. After his contract expired after the season, he signed as a restricted free agent signed a new two -way one-year contract with the Blue Jackets. However, he came in the following season, only in 25 AHL games with the Falcons used.
For the 2012/13 season he joined again a limited one-year contract with his team and started the season due to the lockout again in Springfield. After the NHL had taken their game mode again, however, he was appointed to the NHL squad the Blue Jackets.
In July 2013 Holden signed a two -year contract with the Colorado Avalanche.
