Nikolaus Müller

Nicholas Josef Müller, called Klaus Müller, ( born April 19, 1892 in Augsburg, † August 6, 1980 ibid ) was from 1947 to 1964 Mayor of the city of Augsburg. He was a member of the CSU.

Life

Müller was born the son of a sacristan, and made his Abitur at the Gymnasium at St. Stephen in Augsburg. He then studied economics in Munich and Erlangen. In 1914 he received his doctorate and then participated as a soldier in the First World War. After the war he became in 1920 Secretary to the Board at the Augsburg worsted spinning mill, where he was later authorized officer. From 1936 he was deputy director of the company.

Policy

Müller was in 1922 a member of the BVP and was from 1939 to 1945 head of the army Dismissed place. In 1945 he was co-founder of the Augsburg CSU, for which he was from 1947 to 1964 Mayor of Augsburg. Mueller officiated from 1956 to 1964 as chairman of the Bavarian Association of Cities and the Board of Directors of the Bavarian municipality Bank, the predecessor of the Bayerische Landesbank. In 1956 Müller received the Federal Cross of Merit and in 1959 the Bavarian Order of Merit awarded. In 1964 he was appointed Alt- mayor and an honorary citizen of Augsburg. He went through special contributions to the reconstruction of the city name.
