The Municipality of North Aurdal in Norway has a total area of 907 km ² with a north- south extent of 52.4 km and an east- west distance of 43.3 km. North Aurdal has 6406 inhabitants ( as of March 31, 2013). The population density is 7 people per square kilometer. The municipality is located in the west of Fylke Oppland and is managed by the City Fagernes. The larger settlements of the municipality are Aurdal Fagernes and Leira. Formerly the administrative center of the municipality Aurdal.

The highest elevation in North Aurdal is the Duptjernkampen with its 1,325 meters. North Aurdals coat of arms shows the alpine gentian. Sights are the Valdres Folk Museum in Fagernes and the Aurdal Fjellkirche at Danebu. About 50 percent of the beauty of northern Aurdals is above an altitude of 900 meters. Large lakes are the Tisleifjorden, the Strandefjorden and Aurdalsfjorden.
