Nordre Land

Nordre Land is a commune in the province (county ) Oppland in Norway.

The municipality is situated at the northern end of the fjord edge in the center of the province of Oppland. It is essentially a scattered settlement with three closed cultivations. These are the towns Dokka, North Torpa and Aust- Torpa. In Dokka is also the administrative center of the municipality.

The 3,500 workers of the municipality work to 48 % in the service sector, 32 % work in industry ( furniture) and in construction, and 19% in agriculture and forestry. There is also a larger number of commuters who work outside the community, mostly commuters.

Dokka has an open air museum. Ancient rock carvings can be found at Møllerstufoss and the Etna river.

From Nordre country came Anna Georgine Rogstad (1845-1938), the first woman in the Storting.
