Nyanza Province

Nyanza is a province of Kenya. Its capital is Kisumu. The province is bordered by Tanzania, Uganda and Lake Victoria. According to the latter, it is named; Nyanza means large body of water or lake in the language of living in neighboring Tanzania Sukuma.

The province has about 5,050,000 inhabitants. Main demographic group in Nyanza are the Nilotic Luo, next to also live here Bantu ethnic groups such as the Kisii ( Gusii ), Kuria and Luhya.

The climate is tropical humid in Nyanza.
