Olaf Janßen

Olaf Janssen ( born October 8, 1966 in Krefeld ) is a former German football player and current football coach.

Career

Soccer player

The midfielder Janssen began his professional career at FC Cologne 1. He debuted in the 1985/86 season in a 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund. In a team with the equally young talent Thomas Hassler and the international Pierre Littbarski he continuously developed after initially sporadic operations team regular and played the two games of the UEFA Cup final against Real Madrid, in which the first FC Cologne subject.

At the beginning of the new decade, Janssen had to have surgery on the Achilles tendon in July 1991. This resulted in a total of 18-month outage that so it only the final stage of the season in April 1992 absolivierte his comeback. This proved successful, as the club have reached a UEFA Cup place under the only recently installed coach Jörg Berger. In the four other seasons in which Cologne after the departure Littbarskis showed a significant downward trend and twice narrowly escaped relegation, Janssen was one of the few constants in the always changing occupied midfield.

Before the start of season 1996/97 he changed after more than a decade in the service of the 1st FC Cologne for second division side Eintracht Frankfurt. There he injured already in the winter break of his first season at the knee and had to stop after an operation four months. In his second season he had to Frankfurt can be sevenfold operate on the Achilles tendon and despite its assistance to the rise of the club in the Bundesliga Janssen paused a total of 13 months.

Coaches and officials

Since August 2000, he worked as a scout for the Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, while his family remained at home in Cologne. After Janssen had in the meantime acquired the A coaching license, he finished in January 2001 by mutual agreement with the Frankfurt club guide his Scout activities and henceforth worked for the company Scouting Soccer Collection.

For 2003/ 04 Janssen was hired as an assistant coach at the Bundesliga TSV 1860 Munich, where he assisted his former team-mates Cologne Falko Götz. Immediately after his release in April 2004, Janssen left the club.

Since the beginning of the season 2005/ 06 Janssen worked as sports director for the regional division Rot-Weiss Essen. There he first worked with the coach Uwe Neuhaus, who led the team in the same season in the second division. After Neuhaus was released on 8 November 2006 due to lack of success, Janssen acted temporarily as interim coach before the club later Lorenz -Günther Köstner committed nine days as their new coach. Nevertheless, Rot-Weiss Essen rose at end of the season again in the Regionalliga Nord. On 23 March 2008, separated the club from Janssen and thus drew the consequences from the ongoing also in the regional sporting misery.

Then Janssen worked from July 2009 as an assistant coach Berti Vogts at the Azerbaijan national team. On September 4, 2013 he succeeded by Peter Pacult as head coach of the second division club Dynamo Dresden and signed a contract until 30 June 2015. Jansen took over the team as a Table with only three points after six games, took the next eleven games Dynamo under his direction 17 points and finished the first half of the 2013/14 season in 13th place in the table.
