Old Town, Bratislava

Staré Mesto ( Old German, Hungarian Óváros ) comprises the historic core of the Slovak capital Bratislava as well as some adjacent areas.

Most of the city's attractions as well as many bodies of the Slovak government and administration and the City Council are here and the historic city center is still largely preserved.

Description

The western part of the area is quite mountainous and by the Slavín Monument, the characterized Horský park ( Mountain Park ), villas of wealthy citizens and embassy residences. The mountainous terrain ends on the south by the Danube, most dominant feature here is the Bratislava Castle. Next door to the building of the Slovak National Council ( parliament). Located directly on the Danube is a memorial for Rabbi Moses Schreiber ( Moses Sofer, Chatam Sófer ). In the west the area is bounded by the busy highway Prague -Budapest. Below the castle, the remains of the former village / neighborhood are Podhradie ( German castle reason).

The eastern part is the actual interior and old town dar. Below is a selection remarkable monuments, squares and streets:
