Örebro IK

Örebro IK ( Ishockeyklubb Örebro ) was a Swedish professional ice hockey club from Örebro. The club was 1972-1999 and played several years in the first Swedish Hockey League.

History

Örebro IK emerged from the founded in 1908 Örebro SK ( Örebro Sportklubben ). 1964 launched the represented in various sports Örebro SK a hockey department, whose first men's team in its first season, the Division II södra A won and ascended into the Division I Södra. In 1967, she climbed back into the Division II. In 1972, the Hockey department was relocated and under the name Örebro IK ( Örebro Ishockeyklubb ) for stand-alone club. After several discounts and ascents between first and second league, the club got more and more financial problems. 1999 Örebro IK went bankrupt and was taken over by the founded in 1990 HC Orebro 90, in 2005 the name Örebro HK ( Örebro Hockeyklubb ) accepted and competes in the sub-prime HockeyAllsvenskan since 2009.

Sports development

In the 1973/74 season of the Swedish Division 1 - at that time still the highest ice hockey league - took the club although the last place of Group South, but could in the subsequently played relegation round the class with. Then the following season 1974/75 he dismounted. In the 1975/76 season Division 1 - the first season of Division 1 as the second- highest league - the team won the Group East and qualified through the promotion round Kvalserien again for the first division, now the Elitserien. With the 9th place in the 1976/77 season the direct re- descent followed. The ups and downs repeated itself, because after the immediate resurgence landed the team with the 10th place in the 1978/79 season again the relegation zone. By the final season of club existence 1998/99 the team remained in the second division ( Division 1, Group West).

Kent -Erik Andersson began his hockey career in his hometown in the junior department of the Örebro IK, for the first team, he made his debut in the then second-rate Division 2 in the 1970/71 season. Magnus Arvedson also began his active career at Örebro IK and played for the club between 1990 and 1993 in the second-rate at this time Division I. The Norwegian Ole Eskild Dahlstrøm, with the Adler Mannheim became German champion in 1997/98, spent the 1988/89 a season at Örebro IK.
