Osakis is a small town in Minnesota, United States, which is primarily in Douglas County; but a small portion of the village extends into the Todd County. In the census of 2010, the city had 1740 inhabitants. Osakis is the birthplace of the author Leif Enger, from which the novel Peace Like a River originates.

Geography

Osakis is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Osakis at the Minnesota State Route 27, near the exit 114 of Interstate 94 through the city also carries a railway line of the BNSF Railway.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.5 km ², of which 5.2 km ² of land and 0.3 km ² omitted ( é 5.63 %) to water.
