Ottaviano Andriani

Ottaviano " Ottavio " Andriani ( born January 4, 1974 in Francavilla Fontana ) is an Italian long- distance runner who specializes in the marathon.

He started his career along with his also very talented twin brother Antonio, who drowned in an accident at sea on 12 September 1994. His memory is since 1995 the Memorial Antonio Andriani, dedicated a star-studded road race in the hometown of the brothers.

1996 Andriani was ninth at the Venice Marathon in his debut at the 42,195 -km distance. The following year he won the Florence Marathon, at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest in 1998, he finished 20th place, and he was sixth at the Venice Marathon 1999.

In 2001 he was second in Roma - Ostia and the Rome Marathon and placed third in the Milan Marathon with 2:09:07 h his personal best. At the European Championships in Munich in 2002, he came on the 19th Place. The following year he was fourth at Roma - Ostia, second in the Turin Marathon and sixth at the New York City Marathon. 2004 was followed by a tenth place in New York.

With a fourth place in Rome in 2005, he qualified for the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki, where he broke in on rank 17. The following year, he finished tenth in the Paris Marathon, and in 2007 he won at the Maratona d'Europa and was fifth in Milan.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he came on the 23th Place.

In 2010 he won the Treviso Marathon before his at the same time incoming friend Daniele Caimmi in 2:12:49 and finished in eleventh place at the European Championships in Barcelona.

Ottaviano Andriani is 1,72 m tall and weighs 54 kg. He is trained by Piero Incalza and starts for the members of the Polizia di Stato club Fiamme Oro Padova. Since 2005, he is married.
