Paris Métro Line 13

The line 13 of the Paris Métro links the resorts Asnières- Gennevilliers Les Courtilles or Saint- Denis - Université in the north and Châtillon - Montrouge just south of Paris.

History

The line 13 was originally called " Line B ", since it was built by the Société du chemin de fer électrique souterrain Nord -Sud de Paris ( kurd north-south called ). It was opened on 26 February 1911 by Saint- Lazare station to Porte de Saint -Ouen, a branch line from La Fourche to Porte de Clichy was followed on January 20, 1912 The station La Fourche (English as much as: ., The ( road - ) fork) for safety performed in two levels: the top two tracks Stadtaus - and - inward, bottom one - from Nordostast coming - towards the city center. This had the advantage that had to be reckoned with intersection traffic on any track. This route passes through working-class neighborhood, brought her a high volume of traffic from the beginning.

Line 14 ( old) had also been originally planned by the North-South as a " line C ". It was built but only from 1934 onwards by the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Paris métropolitain (CMP ) - this was 1930, the North-South übernomment and since then is also called the " Line B ", " line 13 ." (Now Montparnasse - Bienvenüe ) On January 21, 1937, the section between the Porte de Vanves and Avenue du Maine was opened. Half a year later (27 July 1937) was extended, but the extension is by no means a complete new building. It is the section Duroc - Invalides line 10 This was drawn well known to the west, the orphaned northern section was a short new line ( Duroc - Avenue du Maine ) connected to the 14 ( old). The station Montparnasse - Bienvenüe earlier consisted of the two individual stations Montparnasse (04 and 12) and Bienvenüe (06 and 14 ( old)). These have now been linked through a long connecting tunnel, so that a joint station was built.

The line 13 was extended from Porte de Saint- Ouen to Carrefour Pleyel station on 30 June 1952. At that time appeared the MA51 cars on this line.

One of the first plans for the RER network was to link the stations Montparnasse and Saint- Lazare. , It was recognized, however, that a combination of lines 13 and 14 ( old) is to be achieved at a fraction of the cost. Also, you could take advantage of several positive additional effects: the heavily loaded 13 came so to a higher capacity and also chronically congested 12 could be relieved.

This new line provides a link to the lines 01 and 09, the old terminal loop at Invalides station is still used for parking trains. The linkage was carried out in 3 stages: Saint- Lazare - Mirosmesnil on 27 June 1973 Mirosmesnil - Champs-Elysées - Clemenceau ( Grand Palais ) February 18, 1975 and the last section of the Champs -Elysées - Clemenceau ( Grand Palais ) - Invalides on November 9, 1976. the new linked line has the number 13

On May 20, 1976, the northern branch was extended from Carrefour Pleyel to the station Saint- Denis Basilique. On November 9, 1976 ( date of the merger ) was also a southward extension operation, between Porte de Vanves and Châtillon -Montrouge

1974 has already been introduced on the line 13 PCC. Even before the merger were on the line 14 ( old) MF67 used, after the merger, there were practically only these vehicles, who carried out the traffic. 1977 automatique pilotage has been introduced. In 1978 the line was 13 equipped first with MF77 vehicles.

On 9 May 1980 was a further extension to the northwest into operation, between Porte de Clichy and Gabriel Peri; almost 20 years later, on 25 May 1998, the ( now) last Northeast section of Saint- Denis Basilique Saint- Denis- Université.

In rush hour ( 6:30 to 9:00 and 17:00-19:00 clock ) two ( Asnières- Gennevilliers Les Courtilles ) be served to three ( Saint- Denis ), the branches in proportion, otherwise alternately.

Projects

Improvements in technology and infrastructure

By 2011, the equipment with the new signal system OURAGAN ( = Offre et urbaine renouvelée améliorée Geree par un nouveau automatisme ) is provided. This, together with the installation of fixed platform doors of the type KABA on the platforms ( roughly comparable to those of line 14) outcome will be a reduction of the guard interval from the current 105 to 140 in 90 seconds.

Extensions

  • An extension of the northwestern branch off at Asnières- Gennevilliers -les Illes Court has already been completed since 2008. The desired extension of the line to Port de Gennevilliers, however, is no longer included in the route development plan of 2012.
  • For the other northern branch ( Saint- Denis ), an extension is planned until after Stains, where with Stains -La Cerisaie an interchange station for the planned North Tangentielle could arise.
  • Due to the high volume of traffic on the sections of the line 13 was sought for some time after discharge options. Now, to be implemented by the end of 2017 following planning: The line 14 is extended by 5.5 km to the north. It will build four new stations: Pont Cardinet, Porte de Clichy ( migration to the North West branch of line 13), Clichy -St- Ouen- RER C (transfer to RER C) and Mairie de Saint- Ouen (transfer to the Northeast branch of line 13). By this measure, it is hoped the line 13 Aerosoft relieve more than 20% of passenger numbers.
