Sports career

Charlton Athletic (1997-2005)

Konchesky, which owes its name to the Polish family 's great-grandfather, grew up in Dagenham and began playing football at the first known youth club Senrab FC in nearby Wanstead - there John Terry, Ledley King and Bobby Zamora among his teammates. To this end, he was at a young age Trailers and season ticket holders from West Ham United. His idol was there Julian Dicks, who like Konchesky also later held the position of left full-back there.

The first own milestone in the career did not reach Konchesky but first with the " hammer " but in which also based in London club Charlton Athletic. He was there after the first experiences in the Academy of West Ham United first as a " trainee " part of the junior section and before signing of the first contract as a professional in May 1998, he had given his league debut for the first team on the second matchday of the 1997/98 season. At 16 years and 93 days he was in the match against Oxford United, the youngest employed in a competitive match player in the club's history the " Addicks ". After a total of four games in the season 1997/98, which ended with the Erstligaaufstieg, he completed two league appearances in the 1998/99 season, where he against Newcastle United was coming off the bench in the second half to Charlton's youngest Premier League player and late winner from Martin Pringle initiated. Charlton rose again after one year in the second division from, just a year later to return to the Premier League. That Konchesky still only sporadically came to the course, was mainly due to the consistent performance of his rival Chris Powell. Stood only in six league games of the season 1999/2000 Konchesky at left-back in the starting lineup. However, He was able to convince a ball safe and confident style of play as well as with its ability to engage in offensive actions - especially in the interplay on the left side with the midfielder John Robinson. During this time he also regularly Games for the English U-18 youth team.

In the 2000 /01 season Konchesky denied for the first division 27 Official matches, of which only about half from the start and often used as a right-back or left-sided midfielder. The breakthrough in his ancestral left-back position remained denied; but he screwed his use of numbers in the season 2001 /02 in the Premier League on 34 and 22 times of which he was in the starting lineup. To this end, his first league goal came on 29 December 2001 at Everton (3-0), after he had first met in the League Cup against Port Vale (2-0) on 12 September 2001. However, the recognition in the English selection teams was his somewhat unstable situation in the club not detrimental and so it came in the 2002/03 season to the somewhat strange situation that, while it only in a minority of league games was in the initial team, but on 12. debuted in February 2003 against Australia (as Substitutes in the second half ) for the English national team. Even with the " Three Lions " counted Powell to its competitors and in Charlton he was still mostly in midfield. There, he became increasingly active as a "Specialist for the dead ball ".

Koncheskys dissatisfaction with the fact that he was not allowed to play permanently on the desired left-back position, culminated in June 2003 in the desire for a transfer release. This was followed by a commitment to Charlton on the opening day against Manchester City ( 0:3) a lending Gage Ment at Tottenham Hotspur. He remained there for almost four months, completed 15 competitive games ( ironically) mostly in the left side of midfield, before he returned to the " Addicks " and was there for the remainder of the 2003/ 04 regular players. In his last season 2004 /05 he finally seemed to come to terms with the permanent position in left midfield, especially since he was able to bring his attacking prowess and the rapidity better expression.

For the season 2005/ 06 he moved but to his youth club West Ham United back; the detachment was 1.5 million pounds. Instant Konchesky was at the " hammer " on the left, together with the active front of him Matthew Etherington and a key player in his debut season, he came on duty 45 games. He led the team to ninth place in the Premier League and contested the FA Cup final against Liverpool at the Millennium Stadium to Cardiff. He first scored a goal in the 63rd minute to 3:2, but was after the late equalizer to 3-3 after regular time and subsequent extension to one of three failed in protecting his team lost on penalties. During this time he completed his second senior international game when he came off the bench against Argentina as early as 2003 in the second half.

During the 2006/07 season he lost to a good start, his place in January 2007 to George McCartney and only came on duty 25 games. West Ham slipped into the relegation region and secured the relegation on the last matchday. Ironically, Alan Curbishley new manager of West Ham United had been in December 2006. This was just that Curbishley, who had formerly trained in Charlton and almost " run away " before Konchesky was. It quickly came to a renewed rift between the two protagonists. Konchesky hired at FC Fulham Curbishley and criticized publicly.

Fulham FC (2007-2010)

For the season 2007/ 08 Konchesky moved for a initial fee of two million pounds for Fulham FC. In the " Cottagers " he signed for four years. Due to its good game overview and strength in the tackle, he quickly established himself in the new environment and was directly to the root player on the left side of defense. Especially in combination with Clint Dempsey on the left and with his offensive moves he made himself a good name, though he himself rarely reach their own goals. So he had to wait until January 18, 2009 until the first competitive goal for Fulham scored against his former club West Ham United ( 1:3 ) - which in turn was the " Goal of the Month " is selected at the BBC.

Due to a knee injury at the beginning of 2010, Konchesky paused for two months, but sporty earned him the 2009/10 season a further moderate success when he reached the " Cottagers " the final in the Europa League and in the local finals barely Atlético Madrid with 1:2 defeated after extra time. Due to its consistent performance he had brought to this week for a comeback in the England team, which, however, no reaction took place.

FC Liverpool and Nottingham Forest (2010-2011)

In August 2010, Konchesky moved to Liverpool. There just had Roy Hodgson, had played in Fulham under the Konchesky previously taken over the coaching role. The transfer fee was 3.5 million pounds, with the simultaneous transfer of the two talents Lauri Dalla Valle and Alexander Kacaniklic has been priced for a total of 1.5 million pounds from Liverpool to Fulham. During the short term of Hodgson in Liverpool Konchesky denied initially regular postings, but the coaching change to Kenny Dalglish took care of his fast at the end of the " Reds ". Already earlier, Konchesky great criticism from the Liverpool supporters had seen exposed and after a defeat against Stoke City insulting his mother's comments had poured more oil into the fire in the social network Facebook. Under Dalglish Konchesky was only represented once in the 18 -man squad a given match and on the last day of the winter transfer window, he was loaned to the end of the 2010/11 season to the second division Nottingham Forest.

Konchesky completed 15 games for Nottingham, thereby scored a goal and then hired in July 2011 for £ 1.5 million at Premier League rivals Leicester City at. Under the there main responsible head coach Sven -Goran Eriksson Konchesky had previously denied his two brief appearances for England.

Leicester City ( since 2011 )

In the " Foxes " Konchesky has signed a three-year contract and at first the newcomer with 42 league operations in the 2011/12 season was first-team regular.
