Péter Eötvös

Péter Eötvös [' pe ː tɛr øtvøʃ ] ( born January 2, 1944 in Odorheiu Secuiesc, Hungarian Székelyudvarhely, at that time in Hungary, now Romania ) is a Hungarian composer and conductor.

Eötvös was taken at the age of 14 years of Zoltán Kodály at the Budapest Academy of Music, where he studied from 1958 to 1965. In 1966 he received a scholarship to study conducting at the Cologne Musikhochschule. From 1968 to 1976, a collaboration with the ensemble of Karlheinz Stockhausen joined. From 1971 to 1979 he was assistant at the Studio for Electronic Music of the WDR in Cologne. From 1978 to 1991 he was on intercontemporain reputation of Pierre Boulez musical director of the ensemble. Between 1992 and 1998, he held a teaching position at the Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe, which he resumed in 2002. From 1998 to 2001 he was professor at the Musikhochschule in Cologne.
