Polona Hercog

Polona Hercog ( born January 20, 1991 Maribor, then Yugoslavia) is a Slovenian tennis player.

Biography

Polona Hercog in 2006 began her professional career with ITF tournaments. Already in the following year, she won her first title, including to the tournament in her hometown of Maribor. In her young career she was already nine singles and five doubles titles on ITF celebrate plane.

In 2007, she played thanks to a wildcard for the first time a tournament on the WTA Tour. In Slovenia Portoroz However she succumbed equal in the first round of the Russian Jelena Wesnina just in three sets.

In 2012 she successfully defended her WTA title in Båstad with a three-set victory over the Frenchwoman Mathilde Johansson.
