Pontifical Council for Social Communications

The Pontifical Council for Social Communications (Latin: Pontifical Consilium de Communicationibus Socialibus ) was founded on 30 January 1948 the Secretary of State as a papal commission. John Paul II elevated the Commission by the Apostolic Constitution Pastor Bonus of 28 June 1988 to the Pontifical Council.

The Council coordinates the activities of the Curia in the use and spread of the Gospel through modern communication media. He is also referred to as " Pontifical Media Council ".
