Pöytyä

Pöytyä [ Pöytyä ] is a municipality in southwestern Finland with 8577 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Pöytyä is in the countryside Varsinais -Suomi 44 km north-east of Turku. The municipality has an area of ​​773.8 square kilometers (of which 23.7 square miles inland waters). Pöytyä is located at the headwaters of Aurajoki River. Through the western part of the village flows the Yläneenjoki, which opens into the Pyhäjärvi. Pöytyä has three centers of settlement ( taajama ): Kyrö, Riihikoski and Yläne.

Pöytyä was first documented in 1319. In 2005, the community was incorporated Karinainen, 2009 was followed by the incorporation of Yläne.
