President of Nauru

The President of Nauru, officially english President of Nauru, is both head of state and head of government in the parliamentary democratic Republic of Nauru. Since June 11, 2013 President Baron Waqa is in office.

Election and duties

Residence of the President

The official presidential residence was the former Bush Lodge in Aiwo above the loading cranes. The building was burned down during demonstrations against the then President René Harris and his lavish financial and refugee policy in 2001.
