Rădești, Alba

Rădeşti (deprecated Tâmpăhaza or Tâmpahaza; German Neudorf or Thomas Kirch, Hungarian Tompaháza ) is a town in Alba county in Transylvania, Romania.

Geographical location

Rădeşti is on the left side of the river Mures ( Mures ), in western Transylvania. ( Judetean Drum ) On the county road DJ 142L, the place is located 8 km south of Aiud (Strasbourg Mures ); the county capital Alba Iulia ( Charles Castle ) is located about 30 kilometers south-west.

History

The place as such in 1911 from the Romanian village Tâmpahaza (Hungarian Tompaháza ) and Uifalău (German Neudorf, Hungarian Szászújfalu or Marosújfalu ) - a company founded by Transylvanian Saxon settlers place and inhabited since the 15th century by Romanians and Hungarians place - founded.

On the territory of the municipality of numerous archaeological finds from the Early Bronze Age were made. Far from the village - Mures, called by the natives În Ţărmuire - remains have been found of dwellings from the Roman period.

The place was first ( according to different data) in 1263 under the name Terra Kend - mentioned or 1439 - the old name for Uifalău.

The main occupation of the population is agriculture, cattle breeding and fruit growing.

Population

1850 lived on the territory of the present municipality of 1,544 inhabitants; 1,039 of these were Romanians, 439 Hungarians and 66 Roma. 1941 has been registered with the 2,372 largest population. The highest number of Romanians ( 1,799 ) in 1930, that of Hungary ( 549 ) in 1920 that the German ( 3) 1880, 1890 and 1992 and the 1850 Roma determined. The survey in 1930, a Serb was registered. 2002 there were 1,398 people in the municipality ( 1,105 Romanians, 290 Hungarians and three Roma).

Attractions

  • The Reformed Church, built in 1744 in Uifalău, has a coffered ceiling and is a listed building.
  • Romanian Orthodox Church, Pogorârea Spiritului Sfânt, built in the years 1907-1910.
  • The Romanian Orthodox Church, Sf. Apostoli Petru şi Pavel, under construction since 2009.
  • The wooden church Sf. Arhangheli Mihail şi Gavril in eingemeindeten village Şoimuş ( Falkendorf ), is not a listed building.

Personalities
