RAVeL network

Ravel is the abbreviation for Réseau Autonome de Voies Lentes, so " independent network of Slow Ways ". This name stands for a program of the Walloon region of Belgium, towpaths, disused railway lines and other car-free ways to make as walking, riding and cycling network available. In the scheme of traffic planning Ravel forms a third road network in addition - in official documents "to" - the RGG ( freeways and expressways) and the RESI (roads for both motorized and non -motorized transport ). In order that the matters referred to Ravel user groups do not interfere with each other, uses icons to the individual sections indicate which types of traffic are each allowed. The road network is established on disused towpath canals and rivers, as well as railway lines. These routes for the slow movement are only accessible to pedestrians, cyclists, skaters, and disabled riders. The maximum slope is two percent. The Ravel lines 1 to 5 in Wallonia are 45-330 km long. There are several good networks with the LF power of the Flemish-speaking part of the country. In the German -Belgian border area the route of the Vennbahn is used ( Ravel line 48 and 47). These routes are extended ready.

The first sections of the RAVel network were inaugurated in 1995. Currently, several routes are simultaneously removed piece by piece. The routes are referred to as lignes, "lines". Many carry the line numbers of the disused railway line on which they run.

Were the way first preferably with natural materials attached (Pre ` Ravel ), they are expanded in recent years with asphalt surface, for example, to read the different sections of the line 47
