Landen is a city in Flemish Belgium near lions. Also the County to this city around that name. The City and County lands are located in the province of Flemish Brabant pretty close to the province of Liege (Liege). The city has 15,546 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012); the surface area of the municipality is 54.05 km ².

Pippin the Elder " of Landen " is probably born in Landen. He had at any rate over extended family ownership between the carbon forest and the middle Meuse in eastern Belgium. Carloman (of Landen Austrasia ) is sometimes listed as the father of Pepin. Also Pippin's daughter, who hl. Begga is named after this city, in contrast to her sister Gertrude also holy, which is more commonly referred to the convent of Nivelles.
